It all began in September 2010 with a little girl who came to school without suitable shoes. Her snow boots which are meant to protect her feet from the cold and wet had half of their soles missing. What broke my heart most was knowing these were her everyday school shoes, and it was still summer weather. 

As a single mom myself, I couldn’t bear to see her in that condition. Even though I was only earning a modest income at the time, I went to the store during my lunch break and bought her a new pair of shoes and socks.

The joy and smile on her little face as I helped her remove her wet, dirty socks and slip into a brand-new pair of clean ones was priceless. It was a feeling that can’t truly be put into words, but it changed my life forever.

I wanted to do more. I posted on Facebook and emailed family and friends asking for clothing donations. The response was overwhelming! From that single day in September, we received enough donations to properly clothe 111 children from head to toe.

That day opened my eyes to how many other children were struggling with similar needs. From that moment, helping one child grew into a mission to help hundreds each year—and ultimately into the proud, loving, giving non-profit organization we are today.

Thank you to everyone that has helped Caring for Kids Clothing (C4K) grow.  This is a true non profit that fulfills immediate needs because of community contributions.
